Recently put in an application to building control (Scotland FWIW).

One aspect they want clarification on is U-values of new doors we want to put in.

These comprise an outer storm door and an inner <50% glazed inner door. These are non-standard sized doors I was planning on making myself. The outer door will be in oak - I was planning on a traditional frame ledged storm door but could have some kind of insulated filler. The inner would likely be a painted poplar glazed and painted.

I am really hoping there are some standard tables I can consult.

Cheers,

H.

Unfortunately it is not very easy, calculations have to be for whole u value including frame, air leakage, centre pane value and solar gain. You may get away with just telling them the whole u value is 1.8 I dont think they will ask for proof.

There is some useful info on smartsystems.co.uk although this a site about aly not wood.

Generally the dg unit will need to be 22mm min, soft coat low e, argon fill. Possibly warm edge spacer.
