We were on a job last week in a yard scheduled for demolition and I spotted these beauties sitting on a pallet in the corner.

For scale, the pipe on the right is nearly 300mm O/D.
Obviously, they found their way into the van and came home. Here's a better pic of the topsides:

I'm really not sure what they are - I think either walnut or elm? I stuck the little one on the lathe tonight to have a look at the grain:

Any tips on how to process burrs this big? Never tackled anything of this size before!
