Anyone in the market for a budget planer?

I picked up a brand new Tonino Lamborghini 82mm planer a couple of years ago for £32 wile my Makita was out of action. About the only hope I ever have of owning a Lamborghini  although I actually have two now including my plunge router

Anyway, I'm extremely impressed with it. It's light and comfortable. Powerful enough for light trade use and the dust extraction is quite impressive (even better with a vacuum cleaner attached). There's virtually no kick back despite there being no soft start.

Only two minor flaws:

1. The depth adjuster isn't quite perfect. However, I think the indicator collar may have been set in the wrong position so it's an easy fix, just never gotten around to it as I marked the correct depths on with a marker pen.

2. The supplied blades while adequate aren't brilliantly sharp. A pair of Bosch TCT blades for £8 has transformed this machine.

All in all, this now gets more use than my Makita because it's so much lighter, I tend now only to use the Makita on hardwoods and this on softwoods.

Thanks for the review.

I bought a Bosch Professional GHO 26-82 a few years back and all I can say about it is it's c**p. The belt burnt out in a matter of weeks, the single blade doesn't leave a nice finish and they are expensive and last about two seconds. The spring wotsit that keeps the blade off the ground is too weak to be of any good, so I'm sure this is just as good. I can't compare it to a proper machine like Makita though.

I don't have the planer but I do have the Tonino Lamborghini router that I purchased from the local Netto for £39 when it closed down.
I just wanted a cheap router to keep in the table and for the money I cannot fault it.
It's a bit noisy and the plunge springs are a bit to strong but it has plenty of power and 3 sizes of collets came with it along with a bit set that has also been good.

That was a bloody steal mate, mine cost almost twice that.
