Hi everyone,

Not a Woodworking question, more a ppaster/paint one,but maybe someone knows something.

I have recently replastered over an old artex ceiling (multi finish), there appeared to be some odd circles marked 9n the plaster, however I thought they maybe the outlines of some of the previous high spots in the artex and would dissappear once painted.

But they have not. Ceiling has now had two coats of Leyland contract matt (great paint) and the marks have bled through.

I'm going to wait for the 2nd coat to fully dry and then go over the spots with a solvent based primer/undercoat and then repaint.

I just wondered if anyone had an idea what may have happened /what the spots could be??

Very odd. Fat from some sort of culinary disaster or wild party?
Had a water leak once and that left marks needing several coats to hide.
Thinned PVA is good impermeable primer

Id hazard a guess it's some sticky residue from some type of kids toy . There are all manor of cheap oily sticky toys that kids get hold of and throw all over the place... That is the voice of experience talking!
