Hello,

I've had a lot of tearout using my router table and I've been reccomended to down cut bit but I can't find any suitable for inverted use!

I'm looking for a good template bit with around 50mm of cutting capacity and preferably with bearings at either end!

my only experience with spiral bits, is to do shelf pin holes. but I doubt the pressure would be so great as to push the work off the table, as long as you have hold of it or using a featherboard. as for a router bit with a height of 500mm! not sure I would want to use that, how do you guard it?

Sorry that was meant to be 50mm. I've edited it now!

Has anyone used the wealden multi-trim bit with replaceable blades? I'm thinking it could be the way to go for a trade off between cost and quality!

I'm basically torn between these two:

Would 4 fluted bit be any kinder to router tearout or will it simply produce a nicer finish? I like the idea of having replaceable tips bit I have read they can be slightly less accurate? Any opinions?

They're both within £3 of each other for the same diameter and length of cutter so I have no preference on the spec. SImply 2 flute and replaceable blades or 4 flute and when it's blunt, it's gone!

They look great! I went for the 4 fluted wealden for budget reasons! If I get on well with the 4 fluted trimmer then I'll probably look to upgrade to the radian in due time perhaps. I'm not if it would be any different though?

I have nothing to compare it with, but was very happy with the results.
