I have got a few boxes of Hermes sanding belts but a bit of a problem, the glue joint fails within a few turns.

I contacted the rep a while ago and he said that they must be out of date, other than that he didn't seem to be interested.

Does anybody know of a super duper glue that will hold as it seems a real shame to cut them up for hand use.

I have tried super glue and contact adhesive but they both gave up very quickly.

Apparently, a strip of Tyvek epoxied onto the back of the belt does work. Never tried gluing one myself though.

If they are reasonably new I would take them back for swap or refund. Otherwise not worth the time and effort just get new ones. Those unglued strips will be handy for flattening plane soles or other things, so dont chuck them

I've made my own belts when I havent been able to get the right ones locally.
The secret is to cut the material at a 60 degree angle, and file off all the grit from both ends of the 1/2" over lap you are going to make. Superglue works on the backing, but not if there is still grit there.

Wont last as long as new, but a good temporary solution.
