axi awl1000 help

hi all
i reecently purchased this lathe and i think its really good. however within the last few days the cone of the tailstock centre keeps comming off sticking into the wood im turning exposing the bearings. also the wood keeps slipping due to the loose cone. if you have this lathe, have you had similar trouble like this.
ive emailed axminster to see if they can help me out.

Unless the live (revolving) centre is new & therefore under guarantee, it's probably better to just buy a new one.

You could try bearing seal but by the time you have bought it you'll have paid at least half the price of a new centre & there is no certainty that it will work.

If you do try it, make sure it only contacts the bearing outer & not the inner ball races.

I have the same lathe and have had no issues with the live centre. TBH though, I think it's a bit on the cheap side and probably unlikely to last as long as my MT1 Sorby one.
Probably worth investing in one with interchangeable ends in the long term.

I encountered exactly that problem with a RP live centre....binned it......£20 for a good quality one from Axy...never looked back.
