The sad thing is that someone will believe all the nonsense about old Stanleys and will pay that price, or more.

Any idea when this was made? I'm presuming his grandad has just shuffled off and may have bought this the week before last.

I bought my Stanley No.4 in 1973 for $7.94 NZ dollars (still got the box with price tag). Same era, with the steel depth wheel and aluminium handle nuts.

That's an English Stanley, looks thick and heavy, not your run of the mill Stanley plane.
