For maps and as an introduction to tablet GPS, ViewRanger seems quite useful. My family computer advisor uses it for his work even though he has access to OS mapping.

Its basically for when we have power cuts (which happen quite frequently up here) so need some that work offline if possible (internet is rubbish up here too)
