4 weeks to go ??????? come on spill the beans

Variable speed ? is that on your Graduate :?:

Loots of Blue pens , nice

What are the pens made from? Is it acrylic or corian? It's a really nice colour and pattern

Hello
I am doing my first craft show, 6 pens are not going to fill the table  I better get cracking.
Yes it is on the graduate, the newton tessla conversion, fantastic!!!
The pens are made from a laminated block of wood, pre dyed so each lamination holds it colour. You can get ones with a mixtures of colours which look even better, I will dig out a pic for you when I can.

I am in the process of putting the 240 single speed motor into my long bed Graduate, lost the wiring diagram. Lee from LRE is on the case and is emailing me a PDF file. So hopefully later today the big fella will be running :D
Rich

Nice, Lee sorted me out and we now have power :D
Just got to get the bed on now, not easy.
Graduates are fantastic lathes but swaping motors, moving them about and attaching beds is heavy work!!!!!!!!!

and was it worth it? did you get a rolls royce for the price of mini? or was it more of a case of not wanting something to be going to waste?

Definitely worth it, not quite a mini price (somewhere around £500, hard to fully price because the motor came out of my other one) but not far off the going ebay rate for the condition. It is the 54" bed as well you don't see lots of those about. I can't see myself ever needing the extra bed size but the extra weight is good and you never know :D

The long bed grad looks nice, must be building up a nice collection now! ;D
Hope the craft fair goes well, what finish have you used on the pens?

Hello Callum, the long bed is the one you used in Tibby, it has been messed about with and is even better.
I have put friction polish / carnuba wax / friction polish
I will get some of that micro Crys stuff but for now using what I have got.
Hope to have some more turned later this evening, if my lad would ever go to sleep. He is too exicited about trick or treaters and he has had too many sweets!!!!!!!!!

I am sure you are sick of seeing my pens, so they are all in the box, 20 so far :D
I have been working on some laburnum mushrooms and these two this evening
Rippled Sycamore

Looking good Rich.

Best of luck with the craft show, is it a local one?

I managed 6 pens last Sunday morning, starting the run up to Christmas, well you`ve got to be prepared

Hello there doug, good to hear from you.
The show is at my school, run by the ptfa. It is the first time they have put one on, 50 stalls (one for me and one for mad dog!!!!)
We will see how it goes!?!?!?!?!
I like the look of your pens, very classy looking. Christmas will soon be on us scary really.
