Here is 2 Douglas Fir mushrooms made from a bit of branchrood from the forest. It is a much inderrated wood for turning and fine woodworking and has beautiful grain, colour and cuts and shapes well. I have left the bark on to give them a bit of rustic charm. They are about 10cm high. Off for a bike ride this afternoon to get some inpriation and excersise and have been lawn making this morning . It is quite satisfying getting it dead level, healing the soil and raking every stone out. I will wait for a wet period and for it to settle down a bit before applying the seed.

Lovely items - very attractive. Do you find the Fir easy to work?
What's it like for splitting as it dries?

I find Yew branch-wood can be REALLY frustrating.
