It's happening alright, no doubt about it. I've had several visits to remote parts of South America and seen first hand, particularly in the Amazon Basin of Peru and Brazil, the gradual destruction of the Rainforest from logging, ranching and mining. Regrettably, due to corruption at the highest level it's difficult to see how it can be stopped.

if in 20 years 10% can be lost, that means in 40 years 20% will be lost, 80 years 40%, that's right 40% of the worlds forests will be lost if we continue at the current rate, to me that is pretty disturbing, I hope there is some progress in the next decade, we will see.
 
I don't understand how the people behind the corruption can do this to THEIR OWN future generations.
