1/4 inch router bit in 1/2 inch router

Hi

My little router has bitten the dust and I can't afford a new 1 just yet. Was wondering if there is any sort of adaptor so I can use 1/4 inch bits in my big 1/2 inch dewalt router?

And if so, do you think it's safe enough?

Depending on the make you should be able to get a 1/4 collet. You can get reducing sleeves but I would not use it much or for larger cutters

Yes its called a 1/4 inch collet

Have a look on ebay/ google for your router and you will find the required collet.

You can get reducing collets, amongst others, triton, and I think, trend make them. Common enough that they must be safe to use.
