1/4" (6mm) round over on stair step edges?

I've got some plain old outside deck stairs that I'm trying to show some love to and I'm wondering if it's ok to use a 1/4" round over bit on the front edge of each step, where your shoe hits. I haven't done this before so I'm not sure if the more rounded edge would increase the chance of any stair mishaps (slips or falls) as opposed to leaving the sharper edge they come with from the big box wood stores.

I don’t see an issue with your plan as most stair tread’s are rounded over but it maybe different with decking as I’m sure you know how slippery decking gets in the wet and damp weather. Maybe add some anti slip bars to the steps. I made steps out of deck boards for my glass greenhouse but added the anti slip bars as an additional safety.

If you do round them over, I'd go with a 12mm or 1/2" - that would only take about 4mm off the corner. A 6mm wouldn't take much more than you'd take with a piece of abrasive.
