    Wadkin BER 3

I had a Wadkin BER3 and it was a fantastic spindle moulder . I loved it to bits ! I had the same problem , I stripped it down and greased it all back up again and it was as good as the day it was made .

    Mortise bit sharpening questions

Aim to get a nice small even burr on the chisel . It takes practice but it's well worth it . Once the chisel has a small burr on the four outside faces DO NOT hone these off . Time and time again you see chisels honed up ! Wrong ! Leave the burr on as this helps with the cutting also over...

    Yet another planer thicknesser question...

Sedgwick all the way . It's worth getting in touch with the used and refurbished companies to see what's available.

    Felder woodworking machine/s.

Don't invest in Felder . They are over priced , unreliable and as soon as anything goes wrong , which they will do it becomes very expensive ! Don't be fooled by shiny gimicks a woodworking machine should be simple to use and reliable . If you've got the space invest in Sedgwick . British made...

When did the world go mad for Festool?

Festool and Felder are two of the most overrated machines / hand held machines going . Great designs at a premium , till they go wrong . Then you need a premium to repair them .

    Hollow Chisel Sharpening

Personally I wouldn't worry about a squeaking chisel and auger . There could be several factors contributing to this . As long as the auger isn't causing the chisel to over heat , change colour and crack then its not really worth worrying about I certainly wouldn't put a heavy oil or a silicon...

    Hollow Chisel Sharpening

When sharpening the chisel , make sure you get a small burr on each of the four sides of the chisel face DO NOT hone these off , honing makes the chisel tapered , leading to sticking in deep stock plus it aids in standard morticing . Also the auger needs to be the same diameter as the chisel ...

When did the world go mad for Festool?

Festool and Felder go hand in hand . Over priced and over rated . Fashion dictates this . The 'in' things to have . No matter how hard Festool try they'll never beat a Makita belt sander . My Elu router must be 25+ years old . Bulletproof, reliable and simple to use . All a machine needs to be .

How to remove posts from concrete

I remember a bloke telling me this . Try burning it out . Pour a drop of petrol down the hole , let it soak in then set fire to it . Once it's all burnt out just remove the ashes - debris . Obviously with great care !

    Resin Cleaners

Thank you gents . I've got some Trend tooling that needs a good cleaning , the Trend tooling seems to be a magnet for resin !

    Resin Cleaners

Can anyone recommend a good resin cleaner ? I'm using the time and trusted WD40 but I was wondering if there is anything else on the market ? My normal supplier of resin cleaner has ceased trading . Over to you guys .......

    Felder B6-26

Forget Festool for morticing . It's a fashion trend that doesn't last the test of time . Buy a designated mortice machine , you'll have far more scope than a Domino machine . PS I've a lovely Sedgwick morticer for sale . Going very cheap . Absolutely cracking machine .

Help me spend £20k on a small joinery workshop!

Lucky lucky you ! Quite simply buy refurbished Wadkin , Dalton machinery or even Sedgwick . Look for auctions from colleges or hospitals . These machines are bomb proof and require very little in the way of trouble shooting if anything should go wrong and being at your location the last thing...

help needed with a tricky joint

It's probably easier than you think . I would attack it like this . Make some test pieces and replicate the cube to . That way you have a 3 dimensional view how the pieces match at the top . Being a radius curve you can make the pieces longer than required as you can move the piece along...

    Morticer or Domino

Guggs has tried a Domino and quite frankly I wasn't impressed ! As regards to a morticer being a faff to set up , 2p's and squares ? Really ? Who said you need a square to set the chisel up with ? I can think of several ways without a square and a 2p , save that for the seaside . Dominos...

    Morticer or Domino

Morticer all the way . Far more practicle and quicker not only that it's easier to move a morticer handle than keep lifting a heavy power tool around . The Domino are heavy and offer little compition to a morticer . Don't be lured in by the Festool love in . Search around for a good quality...
