    Bearing Change

Oldwood I was getting a low rumbling noise at low speeds, and could feel a flat spot on at least one or two balls when turning the spindle by hand. Not too bad a job to remove old bearings, but much wailing and gnashing of teeth trying to put new ones in. Inboard bearing in situ, and outboard...

    Bearing Change

Need to change the headstock bearings on my ten year old Nova 3000. Local company want 37.80 for the two, whereas online I`ve found them (like for like) for 21.22. Being aware that there are a lot of snide (fake) oem bearings about, can anyone recommend a reputable firm to deal with. Or should I...

    Turning is Heaven in 2011

Chaz I have been a member for some time, on mainly a "search & find" basis as i don`t feel that I have that much to contribute. But I have learnt so much by browsing this forum, and I thank everyone for that. What I feel obligated to say, having seen your pieces, is that you inspire me, and...

I just decided not to bother with F1 any more.

Likewise For me, the 1st corner or two of F1 is worth a watch and thats it. Maybe a wet race when strategy and pit stops make it a bit more exciting, but otherwise it`s a bit boring. The best racing for me is BTCC where one lap can sometimes be as exciting as a whole F! race!!! That and MOTOGP...

    Dust Control Advice

Hi Pete Thanks for your response. My thinking was the MG drop box with a Charles (Henry) that Mike shows in his setup and him saying that it collects a lot of fine dust. Maybe no good on a lathe with more free air laden dust. Steve

    Dust Control Advice

Hi All Been lurking for a week or two and have enjoyed a lot of the threads. I am going to make myself an MG drop box, but would appreciate some pointers. I shall only be collecting fine sanding dust from the lathe, some of which will be by power sanding. Will a Henry type vac give enough suck...
