    Curved kitchen units

They are lovely, so did you cut the curve from an existing far bigger piece, or did you bend these round somehow? The bigger pieces of the cupboards , are they from some sort of bendy plywood or from the same sort of stuff; sorry for silly questions don't know anything about furniture carpentry...

4mm ply to bend radius 400mm and 150mm height.

Any ideas where I can get skin ply and need some really strong glue that will not be put off by water as I'm hoping it will work by soaking in water so the ply formers will be damp. I'm glueing them together so they are strong, so I can form the shape by gluing lots of them together so they...

4mm ply to bend radius 400mm and 150mm height.

Thanks Jason, what is skinply  and what thickness etc. Sorry I have not explained it very well. For the radius I will use bendy ply. But I also need to cut rips that are vertically 100mm, and they bend a horizontal radius of 400mm, and 1500mm in height. I have updated photo to try to...

4mm ply to bend radius 400mm and 150mm height.

I need to bend 4mm plywood, to a tight radius of 400mm and 1500mm height. Do you think this is going to be possible, I am building a replica of the dimensions as we speak to see if it is infact possible. I'm soaking the plywood also to see if that gives me a better result but a bit worried as I...

Thanks for all the input people :D , it seems they are very quick and easy to use. I would only be using it around my house, I'm preparing myself to have all the necessary tools for when I buy my house as I want to do all the work myself. I want high-quality solid lumber wardrobes, kitchen...

Is a Biscuit Joiner a waste of money?

I'm just doing a little research and don't really know much about carpentry tools available. I was thinking are Biscuit Joiners a waste of money as surely you could get a router piece that would do the job? Maybe I've just suggested something stupid and embarassed myself  . I don't really...

    Curvy Oak Kitchen

Wow I had no idea a vacuum press could be powerful enough to bend wood. I remember using a plastic press at school where the heated plastic would be sucked to mould around the mould. You must have a turbo powered beast and must be very expensive  . Thanks for your knowledge :D .

    Bandsaw for small workshop

I know 120mm throat gap is a bit small for creating your own veneer but would a draper bandsaw be high enough quality for producing ones own veneer?

    High-Quality Bevels.

Thanks wizer  , sometimes I could do with a large one; but thinking about it a lot of the time I obtain the angle then transfer it to the skill saw; often I come across problems with the bevel being too long and have to go to the small side of the saw making it more awkward and I know it...

Thanks for all input people :D , really appreciate it. Wow them Vespers are truly beautiful :o . I would love one of them when I get my own place/ workshop. Unfortunately I work on-site as a Shuttering Chippy and most other chippies don't even have their own tape measure. It's a shame as a...

    Curvy Oak Kitchen

Amazing, amazing, amazing. Sorry for the novice question; but I don't understand how the curved cabinets were made. I think that it was said they were machined from a solid piece of wood? That would mean cutting half a tree for just a little cabinet? It's so cool, would love to build something...

    High-Quality Bevels.

After searching around a little, I have noticed that it is pretty hard to get high-quality Bevels. I have some poor ones that do the job, but what I'm after are the great ones with the handles at the bottom; know what I mean  . Only managed to see an old second hand one on ebay (Stanley)...

    Site Tools for an Apprentice

Seeing as though you're probably referring to second-fix carpentry/ first fix, he won't be doing mass, mass amounts of hammering as they use the gas nailing guns etc. I'm in Formwork myself , so we use the hammers a bit more tightening bolts (Dividags) and a lot of the shock from the standard/...
