Has anyone got a woodwork bench for Sale?

Hi Athertonian, I do have a workbench that I am thinking of selling. It is an Axminster own brand one - no longer a current model but if you look at their website / catalogue I would say visually it looks similar to their D2 bench although it is a lot bigger (approx 700 W x 1600 L) and probably...

    fein or festool vac?

Remember, Festool is proper professional kit and hence they will be selling to companies that require the H&S advice. That's not to say that the risk is not real but they need to design and test their kit so that it really does perform safely. Hence the warning is there since they can't...

    Full stave Iroko worktops

Another vote for worktop express. I bought 2 lengths of full stave oak worktop from them to make a kitchen island unit. Ordered on the internet, delivered on time by their own driver and I'm very happy with them - good value in my opinion. You can order a sample from them (£25 I think) which is...

    festool £50 off voucher

Festool sent me one of the £50 vouchers in the post. Not following a purchase, I guess just as an exisiting customer. Voucher can be used against the purchase price of any tool (not accessories or consumables). Purchase must be in a store (not on the net) since the dealer needs to send the...

    fein or festool vac?

Just had a quick look on the net and the type of thing I have is like festool part no. 456737. Can't seem to find one for the midi so it may not exist...... Hope you have fun anyway!! :D Cheers, Paul

    fein or festool vac?

Not sure if you can get it forte midi but my ctl33 has a reusable dust bag. Basically when it is full you can open it, empty and reseal. It is fantastic as it means no more buying single use bags! You will be ok with a router but you will still generate more dust than say with a chop saw so...

    fein or festool vac?

Well done! Don't think you'll regret it. Just don't start looking at all the other festool kit or you'll be on a serious (but rewarding) slippery slope!!! Cheers, Paul

How do you store your Festool guide rails?

I store the 2.7m length horizontally at height on metal supports off the garage ceiling. Need a ladder to get to it but keeps it safely out of the way. I then store my smaller 1.4m and 0.8m in the festool rail bag. Hope that helps, Paul

New to HVLP sprayer and would like advice about paint

No, I'm not trade either. They'll happily deal with you but you probably will have to set up an account. Good luck!

    Hammer deal

Hi, Yes I do have the hammer mitre gauge that came with my band saw, not sure if it's the same one as you have. It travels fine but I wouldn't say it is great(!). It has a very short fence and needs to be a bit more substantial really. I think the bandsaw is a 'badged' machine made in Italy...

    Iroko Bathroom

Had Iroko worktops in a previous kitchen. Lovely to look at but around the sink you can't get away from water damage however much oil is applied. I think in a shower you'll be up against it and it may start looking a bit 'mankey'!! Lovely wood though for other uses....

    Danish oil

Long time user of Rustins Danish oil on worktops etc but I have recently moved on to OSMO and also the new Festool finishes (clever applicator). In comparison I now dislike the smell of Rustins Danish - seems to linger for some time. Also, one opened, seems to me that it goes off quite quickly...

    osmo top oil

I use OSMO oil quite a bit (not sure if its Top oil though?). THe finish I use is Matte. Wipe on then leave for 8hrs or so then another coat. Does a lovely job on internal doors and stair components in oak and smells nice too. Much better than Danish oil in my opinion.

New to HVLP sprayer and would like advice about paint

Hi, I have a Fuji sprayer too. Best to talk to the paint manufacturer. I get spray paint from Morrells who seem to know what they are talking about regarding spraying. Perhaps give them a call. Paul

    Workshop Ceiling Construction Query

I used a double layer of plasterboard suspended off resilient bars (for noise reduction). Not that hard to do (but you lose a bit of head height). Go outside the garage now and close the door with the planer thicknesser running - can't hear it at all!! Worth every penny to me with neighbours...

    Trade vs retail

I always phone a timber merchant for a cubic metre price before visiting. I then quote that price when making my purchase. I do this as I've found that otherwise the trade counter guy can sometimes 'make the price up'! When you phone, they don't know if they're dealing with a major contract or a...

Anyone using Festool parallel guides ?

I have a set of these and do sometimes use them when cutting an 8 x 4 sheet using the 2.7m rail. I have to say, by the time I have set the things up and connected to the rail, I'm not sure its worth it! THe alternative is to measure a few points along the cut line and align the rail. This works...

    Fuji HVLP sprayer

Hi, I have the Fuji 3 stage. I think it's vey good but quite noisy and a bit heavy with prolonged use. The end finish is good though.
