    Scrubbed beech finish

Forgot to ask - is the ammonia in equal measure to the peroxide? Does the peroxide have a % strength?

    Scrubbed beech finish

Thanks for that - sounds simple enough. Personally I'd give it half a dozen coats of good poly but these people are quite specific and I suppose it's good to try something new

    Ideas for drawers

Imagine if you will a large coffee table. Its more or less just a slab of wood sat on some crossed steel metal legs. The customer wants a couple of drawers fitted to the underneath. Anybody got any good ideas on design?

    floating cabinet panels

Lovely finish there Jon Very neat and clean - Im not a big fan of raised panels - they just look a bit dated to me - but your flush finish makes for a very contempory look Like it!!

    floating cabinet panels

Some photos would be very helpful - Ive got a hall piece to make and I like the idea of cabinet doors with a flush panel made from Spalted beech and rails/stiles in oak but with a subtle gap which wont move around too much. What did you make the floating tenons out of?

    floating cabinet panels

Have I imagined this? I seem to think Ive read somewhere about a method of making flush panelled cabinet doors using a separate tongue. The way I remember it both the panel and the frame were rebated and a strip of wood was used to join the pieces. Not sure Ive explained this very well

    Spalted Beech

Ok thanks for that - not sure I fancy going down the brush route though. Im just not into brush marks.

    Spalted Beech

Just about to make a dining table with a Spalted beech top. Normally for smaller pieces of furniture I just use Colron Finishing oil. Wipe on wipe off but it does tend to drag a bit when buffing. I cant imagine buffing a large dining table but I still want a soft sheen finish - what would...
