TRITON JOF001 router - excessive noise?

Just a little update. Router went back to Screwfix and I got a replacement the next day. Sounds exactly the same... Seemingly, it's supposed to sound like a slide flute... Oh well. Have to get used to it then. Maybe it'll fade in time.

TRITON JOF001 router - excessive noise?

Yeah, brand new. The video is the third time it has been switched on ever. Yeah, I can return it I suppose. It'd be the second time though. First one had a crack in the slide bushing cover when I got it out of the box. It's not like I don't like Triton. As I say I have the bigger version in my...

Hmmm, sounds pretty mad in the flesh. Never heard a router like it.

TRITON JOF001 router - excessive noise?

Just picked up a second, brand new Triton router, the Jof001 1/2" model. Just turned it on for the first time and the sound coming from it is hideous. I know routers can be a little whiny but this one sounds just weird. It has a relatively low pitched whine, quite loud that changes in pitch...

Warwickshire College - Furniture Crafts end of year show

That quite often happens on my Android phone. Usually if you download the Youtube App or an ipad app called 'Jasmine' I think it works on there. Otherwise, try going into the settings of the page (usually top left/right) and clicking Desktop view. I think that the page gets formatted for mobile...

Warwickshire College - Furniture Crafts end of year show

Hi, I posted up a link for this video in another thread but thought I'd give it it's own to see if anyone likes it. I put the exhibition together over the last week and the actual exhibition has finished now, but I made this little video to show the setup and a little timelapse of the opening...

The 'Squid Bench' at Coombe Park. Timelapse of making

Hi Bob, the time between frames was 30 seconds. As it was such a long project to build over several days, any less would have resulted in way too much footage. As it was, I had over 1000 images. I did another one the other day of our end of year show, but this time a shot every five seconds...

The 'Squid Bench' at Coombe Park. Timelapse of making

Thanks for all the comments. It's great hearing what people think of it. To be fair, the music choice probably represented about the most middle-of-the-road from my music collection and I thought it worked well with the footage and was unlikely to cause offence. How wrong can you be... :-) You...

The 'Squid Bench' at Coombe Park. Timelapse of making

If you look at one of his original models below, you'll see it has a sort of wavy, scolloped edge to it. The design evolved a bit on the finished piece, but basically there is a gentle, wavy curved ridge running the full length on top which drops away at the sides into scollops, making natural...

The 'Squid Bench' at Coombe Park. Timelapse of making

Thanks. The timber choice was dictated really by what was available to us. All the timber from the project was felled on-site. Essentially we had no actual budget, apart from time and the odd few quid here and there to buy the stainless strapping we ended up using. Aside from that, nothing. They...

The 'Squid Bench' at Coombe Park. Timelapse of making

Ha ha! Thanks for the feedback. I'll remember to make it look a bit more amateur next time! The fact that you'll never please everyone is a good thing to remember when making video edits... ;-)

The 'Squid Bench' at Coombe Park. Timelapse of making

Hi there. Thought I'd introduce one of our latest woodworking projects from Warwickshire College in Leamington spa We recently completed work on a large-scale sculptural memorial bench project at Coombe Country Park near Coventry. The bench was the result of a competition thought up by Keith...

Marples Boxwood B/E Chisels - available anymore?

Thanks, yes I've emailed Matthew at Workshop Heaven who has been very helpful and thinks he may be able to hook me up with just the blades, if I can find out the tang-style of our current chisels and indeed, get the old handles off. It would be nice to keep our full range we have in the same...

Marples Boxwood B/E Chisels - available anymore?

We have loads of Marples chisels in our College workshop like the ones pictured below which we've had for many a moon. Several of the popular sizes are getting a bit short now from countless re-grinds. I can't seem to find anywhere that sells these ones anymore, they all seem to be the...

    Diamond Stones - Oil ok?

Just got a Trend honing guide with a lovely wide roller but have found that very rapidly, the wheel starts to become sticky, presumably from water ingress from the diamond stone. To counter this, is it ok to use light oil as a lubricant on diamond stones, perhaps something thin like WD40. I've...

    Sharpening for the masses..

I think that idea is good in essence but in practise it would become unmanagable with the amount of time and the amount of students we have, there would be bottlenecks at the beginning and end of each session. I think what we are moving towards is more of a checklist, such as we have when I...
