    Axminster drill press table ?

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'm down to flipping a coin between it and making something more expensive, but more versatile, using a clamp on guide on a bit of of laminate. Andrew

    Axminster drill press table ?

... and then add the shipping to the continent :( Although having said that, it is even more expensive to ship from Germany to Belgium than it is from the UK to Belgium or, insanely, Germany to the UK (last time I checked, Belgium was between the UK and Germany). The Dakota clamp/guide systems...

    Axminster drill press table ?

Anyone any experience of the Axmister drill press table ? http://www.axminster.co.uk/product.asp? ... e=1&jump=0 I know it isn't hard to make something similar, but it is a pia getting t-track over here in Belgium. Andrew

Getting a gloss finish with Osmo ?

Well it's a small piece and I'm sure somewhere in among all those useless accessories that came with my Dremel there must be some polishing pads !

Getting a gloss finish with Osmo ?

Probably worth a try - I'll put another coat on then have at it with a polishing pad. Andrew

Getting a gloss finish with Osmo ?

In moment of unbridled enthusiasm I applied a coat of Osmo PolyX to some Malee. While I like the look of Osmo on most of my projects I actually wanted high gloss finish on this one and really meant to use a gloss yacht varnish or something similar. What's the best way of proceeding ? Remove as...

    Mad-bits vs Forstner bits ?

Thanks for the feedback. What I'm cutting are mounting holes about 5cm deep for some 20mm diameter steel rods and accuracy is quite important. I'm sure the top of the range Forstners are "best" but I guess it is up to me to decide how good is good enough, Andrew

    Mad-bits vs Forstner bits ?

I need to drill some 20mm holes in beech. I was going to get a Forstner bit but can pick up a Mad-Bit cheaper. Anyone used both and can offer an opinion ? Andrew

    Tensioning clips ?

Trouble is I don't even know if that is the right description :( I'm looking for some clips to lock a lid down onto a bucket, something like what you use to tighten up ski boots ? You have a hook on one piece and a spring loaded hinged hoop on the other. I know they exist but for the life of...

    Beginner sharpening kit

I'll give Scary Sharp a go then - just need to work out where to get a suitable piece of glass from. Though I think there is a stone shop nearby which might have some polished marble or granite tiles. So how do you all rate Richard Kell's guide vs the Veritas Mk II ?

How do you guys stick the paper down - spray on contact adhesive ? - or do you have self adhesive paper ? Andrew

    Beginner sharpening kit

I know this is a can of worms and yes I have searched this forum and elsewhere on the www, but what is a recommended sharpening kit for an intermittent beginner woodworker with a couple of bench planes, a scraper and a few chisels ? I'm thinking an Eclipse guide (or Axminster lookalike) but...

I'm sorry Dave, I can't let you do that...

I wonder how many understood your title ? :) Keep the faith - the next challenge is always - "sorry Dave, I've just had an automatic software upgrade and now nothing seems to really make sense anymooooooorrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeee ........."

    Axminster wood thread cutting kit

Works pretty well on the beech I'm trying it on right now, especially if you remember to oil it like the instructions say. The tap looks like it might last longer than the thread cutter but time will tell and at my expected work rate that should be many, many years. Like Nick said you can't...
