    Fitting a jewellery box lock

I have just come within a whisker of losing an entire finished piece, after screwing the ironmongery back on and finding the lock did not fit. After much jigging about, the lock stripped, in the locked position of course, and I barely managed to get it open again before it failed completely...

    Welsh dresser finally finished (almost)

I have been working on this for about two years in total, but it's been the main project since Christmas 2010. This is the main reason I haven't posted for a bit. Here's a link to the project album on Facebook. The captions are for the lay person, not serious woodworkers...

    Oak and walnut stationery box

Here's a link to my latest completed project. Now to get back to those guitar jobs: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stanley_cl ... 232258622/ This box is designed for our family’s use, as opposed to anything that might be a gift or possible future sale. It’s had to be rather more ‘designed’ than...

    Scheppach ts2010 table saw

Has anyone got experience of using this saw? If so, what do you think of it? I want to use it for box making and, despite assurances from the promo blurb and one testimonial, I’m concerned that what is basically a site saw will not be sufficiently accurate. Any advice welcome. :)

    Oak garden bench

Here's a link to a shot of this project, which I have found very challenging: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stanley_cl ... otostream/ There's another shot showing that the bench does not collapse with my family sitting on it. I'm a bit disappointed with the back rest slats, which are too short...

    Garden Furniture - George Buchanan

Does anybody have this book? I am having difficulty with the garden bench project and don't want to start cutting before I understand what I'm doing completely. The timber cost a fortune and if it's wasted I shall have to cry - a lot! I've had a scout around to see if I could e-mail George but...

RIP Sam Maloof - Guardian newspaper obit

    Sad loss of a great craftsman: http://www.guardian.co.uk/artanddesign/ ... ture-maker :(

Telecaster guitar project in cherry, mahogany and rosewood

This has been a stressful project, which has nearly had the axe through it a couple of times. However, as you will see, it has been well received by its recipient and seems to play ok, after a little ruthless fret grinding. As I now have the tools and experience, more instruments will follow...

    Jewellery box for my mother-in-law

I thought that you might like a look at my latest. Explanatory notes are in the Fotki album: http://public.fotki.com/stanley-clifton ... box-for-m/ I hope that you like this box and that you all have a great Yule. :)

Elm, beech, oak, walnut box project

Greetings from relatively sunny Blackpool. Here's a link to a little box project of mine: http://public.fotki.com/stanley-clifton ... d-beech-b/ I hope that you enjoy and all the best to everybody. :)

    Picture frame in African mahogany

This little project has taught me a lot about mitre joints. http://public.fotki.com/stanley-clifton ... ure-frame/ More info on the Fotki album.

Small wooden box in beech and walnut

I've put this little box together as a present for my physiotherapist without whom my elbow would still be in a state. She's not got it yet, so I hope it pleases. http://public.fotki.com/stanley-clifton ... annes-box/ All details in the Fotki album :)

Bathroom cabinet 2 - replacement for failed project

This project follows on from one that went disastrously wrong, which some of you who sent me such kind comment might remember. It is intended to provide additional storage space for our apparently never ending accumulation of toiletries and bathroom acoutrements. The construction is basic using...

    New box project completed

This box is a gift for our departing line manager. I am glad that I'm not going to have to try and sell it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/stanley_cl ... 828395470/ Read the captions for my own criticisms. Overall I'm quite pleased with the outcome particularly with the lid down, but I won't be...

Bathroom cabinet now a pile of scrap

Well I have touted my meagre successes on this forum so here’s an abject failure. The planned bathroom cabinet is now a heap of scrap, most of which will go on the woodburning stove tonight. So enjoy your schadenfreude, here’s the link: http://public.fotki.com/stanley-clifton ... t-in-pine/...

Cutting a stopped rebate without a router

What is the best way of doing this, in peoples' opinion? I set out to cut this rebate this afternoon, messed it up and decided that on this job I'd cut all through rebates with my Record 044 and use plugs when the main glue up is done. This is probably regareded as bottling out, so can anyone...

    Chrissie presents and stuff

Here's a little collection of stuff made as presents for my son and nephews. There was supposed to be a doggy money box for our neighbour, but I had an accident just before Christmas and it didn't get finished. Hope that you like what I did get done. http://public.fotki.com/stanley-clifton ...

    Ash coffee table finally completed

Here's a link to my photos of the construction of this table. It's not my own design, but does have some variation: http://public.fotki.com/stanley-clifton ... fee-table/ I'm quite proud of the top: a struggle to get that finish as the grain runs all over the place - I thought that ash was...

    Dave's workshop

For what it's worth here's a link to my so-called workshop. It's a pain when the rain gets in but I suspect it's a lot better than many crafts-people better than me have, but not what others may be used to. The band saw was chosen so that I could wheel it around, which helps a lot...

    Record 044 plough plane - 3/16 iron

Looking for this iron. The set I purchased has a cutter for another Record plane but this does not fit. If anyone has a spare that they know they're not going to use I'd be grateful for it. I know that this is a long shot. Dave :(
