Flocking - has anyone ever used this brand...

No problems with this company, the DIY kit they send out contains a brush, glue and flock of your choice and a plastic bottle puffer. They also sell the basic tube as mentioned above, easy to use and unless you want to splash out hundreds on the electrical kit, this puffer is fine. Just purchase...

    Bandsaw box finishing

pops92.........fine job =D> I too have just made my first band saw box from a log. Because I kept half the bark on I used three coats of Barretine boiled linseed oil, first coat 25/75 spirit, second 50/50 and top coat neat. I then polished with beeswax to give it a soft matte sheen. Like you...

    Advice please; Work-bench and Vice

Large, vice is 265 x 533mm(10.1/2" x 21") with a clamping capacity of 330mm(13"). Capacity less the thickness of wooden jaws fitted with an offset center screw to prevent skewing. Cast iron/steel, note :  branded Veritas, but from eastern Europe, who cares, still a nice bit of kit on your bench...

    Advice please; Work-bench and Vice

Having Record and Bosch kit, I followed the demonstration You Tube video of Alan Holtham. Started off alright with the M&T joints but because I was using scrap timber it more or less finished up like a Heath Robinson job. I managed to get hold of a QR vice for £4 but the Veritas front vice was...

Finally accepting it's time to hang up my tools.

As a relatively newbie on here I wish you and your good lady all the best, I know how you feel, I had to give up my job because of injuries sustained through an RTA. I have just started in this game but for pleasure, not gain. I can stop when I want and sit down on the job so no stress or...

    serious road traffic incident.

Normally I let this sort of thing go over the top of my head but this silly person was tailgating me for about a quarter of a mile waving his arms about and gesturing me to go faster. I was doing 30 in a 30 limit, approached traffic lights where he passed me at a double junction and then ran a red...

    serious road traffic incident.

Interesting, thanks for the input, this was a case of very dangerous driving, no one was hurt and no accident occurred but could have had a very different outcome. This person should not be on the roads.

    serious road traffic incident.

Can I ask, has anyone on here filmed a serious road traffic incident on a dash-cam and reported it to the police, if so, how did it go and what was the out-come?.....bb

    bench ideas.

Looks good, I am half way through making my smaller, lighter bench, I have back trouble so will be making it higher to save on the bending. The M&T's are awful and would not dare show them on here.

    Table saw

I’m a few years younger than you and I did the very thing you are about to do. My old saw was a B&Q cheapo, I raised the blade as high as I could, removed the guard and riving knife and just used it for ripping with a wonky fence. Bought myself a band saw and thought I could manage with that so...

    Are you a noisey neighbour?

We have the most noisy neighbours ever, chickens, a cockerel that crows from 04.30, trampoline and swing set, a skateboard ramp, swimming pool with log burner heater and pump going all day, barbeque hut, bubbling hot-tub, he has a workshop, ride-on mower, petrol hedge trimmer. I never feel...

What tool did you buy today?

Had this for as long as I can remember and has finally broken beyond repair. I like the new quick blade change mechanism.

    damaged goods

Well it arrived, partly in it’s box, partly in cardboard and parcel tape. I told the driver it looks damaged, he said that is how he picked it up. Cut the cardboard open and it looked good but has had a bang on one edge. He advised, “sign damaged”. The handle extension would not fit, a few...

    damaged goods

My suspicions exactly, that’s why I shall check before signing. Not saying this is their motive but it’s the first time I have heard of this. I will not be signing “damaged” unless it is of course...bb

    damaged goods

Agreed, I wouldn’t expect a driver to hang around either, depends on the goods, this is a block splitter so not much to go wrong. My garage is six yards from road and I will have it opened and checked in no time. I shall tell him the supplier insists on checking. I have paid £30 delivery charge...
