    Plywood question (newbie)

So...types of plywood - different grades/hard and soft are confusing the hell out of me. If I want to make some basic cabinets that will be painted (or perhaps veneered) do I need to buy highest quality ply, can I get away with B / BB grade (or lower)? Any help would be appreciated.
