Macallister flip over saw. Any Good?

I would be interested in finding out what type of motor it has, induction/brushed. I have used a 10" Draper table saw with a brushed motor and the noise was unbearable. Definite need to wear ear protection. I would expect at that price it has a brushed motor. Does anyone know if the more...

    Where can I get whatchamacallems?

How about Screwfix? They have these cross dowel and much cheaper than anywhere else... I have used these along with the dowel bolts on a cot I built a few years back. They allowed for height adjustment and disassembly. Cheers Matt.

    "Stays"

Hi, I made some toy boxes as Christmas presents last year and used gas struts from B&Q. They are for top opening kitchen cabinets and cost about £7 each. They are rated for poundage and as you stated allow for slow closing of the box. I used a strong magnet catch to keep the lid shut, a light...

    WHICH CIRCULAR SAW?????

I have just laid a laminate floor today and used my cordless Makita saw to make the cross cuts. The room is approx 13' x 9' (117 sq/f) and all cuts were made using 1 battery which has not discharged fully. I have 3 18V 3.0Ah batteries so have plenty of scope and power available. Cheers Matt

    WHICH CIRCULAR SAW?????

Hi, I am currently using a Makita 18v LXT circular saw and it's great. It cuts through sheet material easily and you don't have to worry about the cable.... The motor is super quiet compared to 240v machines, the motor is braked and it's portability is a big strong point for me. Here's the...

    bench sanders

Hi Mike I use a belt and disk sander with a 150mm (6") wide belt and a 229mm (9") diameter disk. I would highly recommend this, as the larger sanding surfaces are more accommodating and don't clog up quite as quick (more area to use). Here's my sander....

    Birch plywood...your opinions please

Thanks for all your replies. The birch ply looks quite good at my local depot, so I'll get a sheet and give it a go. Cheers Matthew.

    Birch plywood...your opinions please

Yes Tim, 18mm 8x4 sheets. It looks a good price as long as it's pretty good quality. My father-in-law bought some 12mm Eastern ply, from China, what a waste of time. It was totally rubbish, no strength in it at all. Cheers Matthew.
