    Saws

I'm not looking to replace the scroll saw, just adding something that can cope. I have an Axminster AFSW18 and I used a no7 blade to cut a 4cm square piece of pine and it wouldn't do it comfortably. So I put an old fashioned pin blade on it, as rigid and toothy as they come and it did it... Am I...

    Saws

Hi everyone, I have a great scroll saw, but really need something that can cut thicker stock. So I asked around about different saws, miter, circular, table and band saw. Sad thing is, I can only afford budget priced and I know you get what you pay for, but a budget is a budget. I want it to...

    Blades...

Claymore! I have often thought of you! I've tried the Pegas from Axminster, they seem to do the job, although I'm still confused with the different type of blades. Modified geometry, precision ground, super double tooth and now super hook or something? When I try to cut something, I seem to...

    Blades...

Bit of a repeat post, I'm sure... But please help me... I haven't touched the scroll saw in years - long, boring story - and now I'm looking to buy blades and start up again... Where is the best place to buy blades in the UK? It's hard to buy in bulk from the US when you're not sure what you...

    Plugs

Latest update is: I had a guy from the original shop I bought it from, send me a variety of plugs that didn't fit and he said he hadn't realised it was a Scheppach. So he sent me the last one and it's a little bit weird... It fits upside down, but only just and it does start up the machine...

    Plugs

Thanks for the input so far. The plate on the side says: 230-240v 50hz P1 370w 2,2A The EU plug says it's fitted with a 16 amp fuse. Admittedly, I don't know anything about voltage etc. But I can rewire a plug - well, a UK one...

    Plugs

Hi guys, Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I'm returning to woodworking after being poorly for years and discovered a problem with a machine. I bought a ScheppachBTS800 dual sander nearly 3 years ago, that came with a wired EU ended plug and an EU to UK adapter plug. I just assumed...

    Total Beginner Desperate For Help

Thank you, Mike and everyone else :) Just to clarify, I do own a whole host of power tools, I've used all of them many times and haven't injured myself much. I'm just a novice when it comes to routers. It is my belief, at least, that I am more than capable of handling any router than I happen...

    Total Beginner Desperate For Help

Hi Everyone, I consider myself a total beginner in wood working, because I've never had the time to consistently practice and so I'm always starting a fresh. I finally have time now and am eager tk get startrd. I bought a router a few years ago, a Bosch POF1200AE and I wanted to buy a router...

    Greetings!

Hi everyone - just wanted to stop by and wish you all a wonderful end of week and weekend. I have been very poorly for several months and so have not touched the saw or visited the forum. But things are improving and so I am back and look forward to looking through all your projects and...

    Wood

Hewwo, I've been putting feelers out about wood and nothing comes back to me. I tried a coffin making company, a kitchen company and a flooring company. No responses. I've noticed how some drawer units that are veneered can have wooden carcasses on the draws, so may have to demolish to use -...

Help! Which scroll saw to buy!

Hi Keith, So glad to see you here! The wealth of knowledge on this forum is unbelievable. You'll find lots of useful advice. I had a look at the saw you mentioned and on the face of it, it doesn't look too bad. A lot of people argue two speeds in sufficient. Mine is a variable speed, but I have...

    Rollers 2

Thank you for the advice, Brian. I will try that. I'm not sure how to lift the mechanism out of the recess, but I'll give it a go. It seems like the original plastic rollers were damaged before arrival, as the new ones are much stronger. Though I might get some Hegner ones too, for comparison...

    Rollers 2

The rollers arrived - yay! But no instructions or any idea how to fit them. My Ax has a metal collar on the outside of the bar, ensuring the rollers won't fly off. But it doesn't want to move.... Any ideas?

Help! Which scroll saw to buy!

I think for some people, it comes down to this: As long as it makes me happy and I'm satisfied with the results, then higher priced machines are unnecessary. Why pay a lot more when the cheap machine works to the standard you want it to. It's all about what enjoyment you get out of your machine...

Help! Which scroll saw to buy!

I was recently asked to answer a question about the first saw I bought, the SIP 16V, as a chap with a limited budget needed advice. I bought this saw because I had a very very limited budget and the £130ish I spent on it was the most I (couldn't) afford. But I had been researching scroll saws...

    Victim of the Rollers...

Thank you everyone! Your replies have been most helpful. The bearing conversion looks ace and I can see the benefits thereof. I might pop into B & Q before I go tutoring tonight, just to see what I can find. I did get a reply from Ax about replacement rollers and the guy said they are in the...

    Victim of the Rollers...

Thank you for your replies. I don't think I'm going to have an opportunity to get to B & Q today, but will ASAP. I found the original threads which mentioned the bearings. 7mm OD & 4mm ID. But when googling found a million different varieties of bearings, cage bearings, ball bearings & other...
