    routing larger pieces of wood

I have a very entry level router table (it was a present and to be honest looks like a fisher price cooker). To be fair, it does a good job on smaller pieces and I've made some nice, small cabinet doors using it. However, whenever I try to route a longer piece, even when using feather boards I...

    Back lighting

I'd love to know how chippy 1970 got the edge to those shelves. Presumably it's mdf but how do you get a finish like that at the front and still hide the led strip lights?

Basically, whatever you did, I am going to try and copy it

    Back lighting

I was actually given a few led strips by sheer co-incident. Chippy1970 I love what you built there! Is it mr-mdf? Have you 7sed edging band or covered the edges elsewhere? Also, could you tell me a bit about how you have hidden the lights?

    Attaching triangular wood

All possibilities. Please excuse the ignorance of this comment but... could I join one board to the other by cutting a dado?

    Attaching triangular wood

Thank you. If I do them as two separate cabinets I will need to make it look like one so may just use one end that is a third the size. That way I will have something to screw into and it won't stand out. Thank you all for your help.

    Attaching triangular wood

Would you suggest an mdf 18mm lower section with a scaff top for effect?

    Attaching triangular wood

What would you suggest I do? I can't really add a corner support as I will need to put sky box dvd box etc probably in the joins?

    Attaching triangular wood

Thank you all for your detailed replies. It's all getting a bit complicated. I don't want it to be weak but equally I got given 10 scaff boards for free and I want to use them for a nice project.

    Attaching triangular wood

Thank you all very much for your advice. I think I will go for buscuits. Its funny that you mentioned the mitred sections. I was going to butt join them by starting with one section as a cabinet and then I was going to use pocket holes to join one section to the other. I wasn't confident...

    Face frame

I was just wondering where everyone stands on faceframe. I know they are big in America but I've never built one but I have a small cabinet to build and I am tempted. I was just after some opinions on the matter.

decorating a panel above a door way.

I've what I would class as a unique house. Nothing is straight and it's put together in a weird way. I am in the process of plasterboardING some bits in preperation for a plasterer. We have a door frame that sticks our and is possibly load bearing and a panel above it that we would like to...

    mdf shaker style door

Thanks for all of the replies. I think I will go for 18mm frame and a 6mm interior using tongue and groove router bits. Do you think I should fit them snug?

    mdf shaker style door

Thank you. Alternatively, I have a 6mm t and g router cutter. Would that work with 18mm edges and a 6mm middle?

    mdf shaker style door

I am looking at making some shaker style doors from mdf. I just wanted to check my plan to see what you guys think. I was going to get 12mm mdf cut to size or a couple of mm over. Glue 6mm strips on. Possibly flush route the edges so the joins aren't obvious. As the 12mm and 6mm glues will be...
