    Help with identifying plane

Sorry, I'm talking twaddle here, the Kunz doesn't have the name on the cap iron, however their No. 5 has a Norris style adjuster.

    Help with identifying plane

Both Groz and Kunz planes have the name on the cap iron. The Groz has a "V" shape behind the rear handle. Could it be a mix of parts from various planes?

    Help with identifying plane

Oh my - it's a plane. A stripped down plane. Just look at that pert little knob on the front. Just like a Scammell wheel nut. Any photos of it being stripped down? I'm asking for a friend. Is the mouth adjustable? It looks nice and tight to me.

Have you seen one of these?

It looked a bit like a sharpening jig and KKR make chisels, so I searched for "KKR sharpening jig" on ixquick.

Have you seen one of these?

    I reckon it's a sharpening jig. It seems to be missing a roller http://www.ebay.com/itm/KKR-Sharpening- ... 0965868894

Now Taken. Unloved and unwanted ...

I think the "M Tooth" pattern is used on cross-cut felling saws. Green wood tends to clog smaller teeth.

Will Stanley 50 parts fit a Record 050 Combination Plane?

I think they are identical apart from the cutter depth adjuster.

    Another sharpening thread advice needed

There's no need to spend a fortune on expensive toys. The plastic sharpeners from China don't last. Bronze cast sharpeners are lovely, but dropping one on a concrete floor will probably be the end of it. If you search the boot fairs you should be able to pick up an old woodie for pennies.

    Another sharpening thread advice needed

With one of these:- Of course, all these so-called sharpeners are really pencil-sharpening jigs which enable rookie pencil users to achieve the correct angle at the point. Proper pencil users do it freehand.

    Marples 1938 full catalogue available

I'd guess it was used for scraping the bristles off.

    Marples 1938 full catalogue available

As it is 48" high, I reckon it is used with a hand on each handle to thump paving stones in place. The iron ring would help protect the bottom from splitting.

    Saw ID

Thanks for all the replies. The backsaw site looks promising, I'm searching that and a copy of the Eileen Woodhead trademark list. I may be some time, there are loads of trademarks out there. Here are photos of the saw, the medallion and the etch. I ran the picture of the etch through Gimp...

    Saw ID

Hiya, I am trying to identify a cross-cut saw that I bought for fifty pence at my local flea-market. The etching is extremely faint but I think I might recognise it if I saw a picture of the whole trade mark. Searches for "saw maker trade mark", "saw maker logo", "toolmaker trade mark" etc...
