    How good is your Bandsaw?

Its not that hard. Just a case of the right bands. If you use something like the Trimaster or Resaw kings, some times you have to look very hard to see any saw marks. Just a case of having a saw that can tension it properly.

    Can anybody ID this jointer/planer?

Looks identical to a old 20" steton i have, italian company, same lifts, adjuster, etc, etc. so 99% sure. Nothing like their new stuff to look at pictures. And it may even have been badged under a different name years ago.

    Heavily Figured/Burr Hardwood

Hi He has recently moved into a small unit where he cuts and stores stuff. I used to visit him when he stored a lot of it in shipping containers before he moved recently. as i say he is very small, but what he does have is really top notch, stuff which does not make the grade for instruments is...

    Errrmmm... quickie workshop plumbing question

Copper for me to. i know of a case of a claim against Speedfit where on a extension 6 months on from completion whilst the couple were away a fitting failed. Upon their return, the house was flooded minus a ceiling. the result after the contractor getting the speedfit manufactures in, was a...

    Resawing question

I would have a call round and find someone local to cut them for you. If it is reclaimed however you may find it difficult to find someone willing to take it on. There are skil saws out there which would cut it, but it would be an expensive way to go for one job and the kerf and accuracy not...

    African Blackwood

It really depends on the size of the pieces and how clean it is. It is mostly traded in weight by the kilo in the round, the price of which depends on how much you buy and who from. Buy pallet quanaties from Nagels in germany or direct, or retail dimensioned squares bowl blanks etc. here at big...

    African Blackwood

It is so dense, and given the 9" in section is never going to dry out fully. Best bet is to open each piece up, cutting through the centres, or cut to the required dimensions if you want spindle stuff from it. Or you could just sell it all to me and i will make all the problems go away

    Bandsaw wheel advice

I have just sent of some 28" wheels of to be recovered by this company http://www.bhleakerubber.co.uk/about-us/index.html the cost was just over £100 a wheel + vat, which after calling a far number of companies was by far the best of the lot, and the company knew what i was talking about...

    eucalyptus

As already suggested, the timber is of little value, the only chance of getting anything back is if the butt is figured which is not that uncommon, clean, and of good size. Even then, drying the material is almost impossible. But it can be done in thinner planked section. Even if it is of a...

Source online for dust extraction hose/fittings

Hi Just wondering where people buy their extraction hose and fittings, i usually buy stuff in the past from Felder but i currently only need a small amount of 6" and 5" hose and fittings and was wondering if there was a good online shopping source other than axminster who seem to do very little...

    Buying a bigger bandsaw...

Being a bandsaw there is very little to them. Bearings on the wheels themselves, which is no big deal. A set of guides and a motor. Other than that not a lot to say. Regards running carbide bands, makes no difference what they are tipped with. I use Lennox CT1 myself on a Wadkin Bursgreen BZB...

    Buying a bigger bandsaw...

Hi Ian The most important part of any bandsaw is the frame which is why i favour old iron frame types myself. I have used allsorts over the years and still come back to the Wadkin DR as top of my list. They are not hard to come by here inthe uk and even from a main dealer such as Daltons you...

    Buying a bigger bandsaw...

Well it seems you have done lots of research i take my hat of to you. For my 2 cents worth, i have had in the past a felder 540 and to be honest i was not impressed with it. It quickly got resold and i brought from Daltons a serviced Wadkin Bursgreen BZB, cost me less than the Felder at the...
