Post a photo of the last thing you made

Or, have a matching gap in the darker inset piece, on the vertical plane. Might work.

    Iroko strip double-glazed front door

I really like that, definitely not your run of the mill front door. Is that your own design? Is that a wireless doorbell? I'm guessing the wee panel at the back is removable for access to change batteries. Well cool, you must be chuffed with that.

Worktop clamp cut out dimensions (im too cheap to buy a jig)

The joining bolts are 150mm long, so half and half in the male and female sides of the join. The male part of the joint protrudes 30mm into the female side, at least that's the dimension on my jig. I don't think it matters as long as the two sides mirror each other but I'd be interested to hear...

    Tool chests

I've had a couple of the "Teng" setups similar to the ones you are looking at. As Chris says, there are several incarnations of the same cabinets, minor differences at most. I've had mine for the last 25 years or so, one set in the workshop and and the other on the road with me at weekends...

    Looking for a new sofa....

Stressless chair and footstool here too, in the kitchen so I can be near the source of baking and cups of tea. Really comfy, I'd thoroughly recommend them.

A how to: Repairing Gas Nail gun Piston on Bostich GF33PT-U

It is surprising how strong a join you get with brazing. Motorcycle and bicycle frames were often brazed together, just one example that I know of. I brazed together a broken quick release spring on a vice years ago and that's still going strong. That said, it might not be too hard to make a...

Jet JPT260 Planer/Thicknesser Chip Extractor & OneWay Gauge

I knew this would happen, bought an Axminster 106 a fortnight or so ago when I didn't hear back from you. Impatience on my part, as usual, sorry. Can you pm me a phone number because if I can shift my one I'd still be interested in yours? I fancied the Jet because of the one piece top and it...

Old Wolf 8” pedestal grinder - buffer/polisher conversion Qs

The one that's already off is the left hand thread, the remaining one will be conventional I'd have thought. Heat and a spanner on the spindle flats, as already said, should do the trick. I'd be wary of putting too much heat near the stone, I'm not sure if those behave like concrete when heated...

Harrogate whose going this weekend ...

I bought a pull saw from the Japanese chaps, very friendly, polite crew. Wasn't really tempted by anything else although it was good to see the different marques side by side and compare them. What I often thought of as "badge engineering" isn't always that simple. There are quite a lot of cost...

Trend T11E Router + bits & Fox F50-842 extractor motor

I picked up the dust extractor motor from Kevin this afternoon. A proper gentleman with a lovely wife and a flat out busy life. Many thanks Kevin, a pleasure meeting you. Hugh.

Harrogate whose going this weekend ...

Heading off in half an hour, staying in Wetherby, show tomorrow, Chester zoo on Saturday, home on Sunday or maybe Monday. I was going to be looking for a new planer/thicknesser but a few hours after I bought tickets and booked a hotel, a second hand, like new 106 Axminster turned up on Gumtree...

Trend T11E Router + bits & Fox F50-842 extractor motor

I'll take the dust extractor if you're happy to hang on to it until I come down to Harrogate on the 14th of this month?

What should my next powertool spend be?

A track saw would definitely be a good investment. I've recently been converted and I wonder why I didn't do it years ago. A very versatile, portable tool that you'll use for loads of things apart from " breaking down sheet goods" as our American friends say. I bought a Makita one and am in...
