Word or two of praise for a dealer

Dave is a top bloke. Very helpful, and very knowledgable.

    Abrasive disks

Metabo do an 8 hole pad for the SXE450, to take festo discs. Try these guys, they're normally pretty cheap: www.transtools.co.uk If it's not listed on the site just ring them and they can get it in for you.

Metabo optal 26 - combination machine

As I said before, the machine is built to fit a price bracket, you wouldn't expect to get a Mercedes for the price of a Mondeo would you? I simply made the point that Lurem make a lot more than the Maxi, I wasn't using it as an argument against the perceived flaws of the Maxi. The main...

Metabo optal 26 - combination machine

Lurem make a massive range of machines - the Maxi is only a cheap entry level machine. Their range runs up to mid level industrial machinery, if they sell a few Maxi26's then all well and good, but they're not really involved in the hobby / DIY market. They survive due to machines like their saw...

    Europlan Lutz P/T

If it's struggling to start up / get up to speed it's almost definately your supply. If it's blowing the gang lead it might be worth investing in a heavy duty cable as this won't restrict the current (assuming of course the lead that you're using isn't already a heavy duty lead!). Just be wary...

    Europlan Lutz P/T

Either a weak supply (are you using it in a garage, if so the supply to the garage might not be strong enough), or if you are using the machine with an extension cable it may be too long. If you can give us an idea of where you are using it, extension lead etc I might be able to give you a...

    Europlan Lutz P/T

They moved from Littlehampton to Southampton a couple of years ago. I have heard recently that they may no longer be in business however I'm not certain of this. They were / are the sole UK importer for Lutz so you may struggle if they have gone.

scms i cant make my mind up

There's a new EB KGS303 out with a bigger crosscut better blade and a laser. Well worth a look as the previous version was an excellent saw. http://www.transtools.co.uk/store/corde ... d_137.html

    Random Orbital Sander Problem

:? No, Black and Decker own Dewalt. Metabo are nothing to do with B&D

    Hitachi NR90GC nail gun

Are you using the machine outside? They had quite a few problems when this machine came out last year, apparently they had tested the machine down to extremely low conditions in a lab, but hadn't allowed for the typical British winter - i.e. moisture in the air. I know that this caused a problem...

    Bosch GCM10SD

This might be worth a look, it's the updated version by the look of it. http://www.transtools.co.uk/store/corde ... d_137.html

    Blade brakes

Matt, There's a brake conversion kit for that saw, I'm sure a few members have fitted it in the past. I'd contact EB and they should be able to point you in the right direction. :D

    Cordless circular saws

I'd look toward 2 main points, firstly what type of batteries the saw uses - preferably Lithium ion or NiCd - avoid NiMH like the plague. Secondly look for a saw with a thin blade - it reduces the drag and prolongs the battery life between charges. Most professional machines will have a thin...

    Metabo Thicknesser (again!)

Hi All, I have found the direct website address for the company who are selling the Metabo thicknesser on ebay. They have a lot of Metabo / Elektra & Dewalt woodworking machines, and their prices seem pretty good including the Thicknesser which was on E Bay. The direct link is...

    Elektra Beckum BAS 450

No, the BAS450 isn't listed any longer on the site. Best bet is to contact Metabo direct, I'm sure they will send you one out in the post.
