I am going to try and make a simple wooden photo frame for a few of my recent photography projects, it will be a simple 4 sides joined at 90 degrees with dowel joints. Nice and simple. However, i require a 'lip' on all four sides of the frame for the glass to sit within, I do not have a bandsaw...

OH ok, ok. This is good. i would be requiring 4x2" posts i suppose for such projects. I will have a look around. if a properly dried piece of softer pine was used, could i still get it to look something like that? How would you recommend finishing? Dan

that's great. it is surprising how much wood is these days. most of the time it is cheaper to buy the finished product than it is to DIY. I am thinking of making a nice 'rustic' style cabinet for an aquarium. Should be interesting. If you have any spare wood going, i would be more than happy to...

Here is a quick question, When people refer to 'pine' wood, do they strictly mean from the genus 'pine' or from the 'pine' family which also includes spruce, fir etc. Just curious. Dan
