I have a meranti pine table which is sanded back to a beautiful light pinkish colour. How can I add a finish - oil, lacquer, etc - without darkening it or making it look reddish? I really want a natural look.

I've used pure tung oil on meranti and it looked good, it's quite open grained so after the second layer I used 600 grit with the oil on it and wet sanded the dust into the pores, works well and you end up with a natural 'in the wood' look, if that's what you are going for.

Ben, have you got a piccy of it?
And has it got a knock atall, as examples of meranti I have are quite a bit soft.
Thanks
Tom
