    Drilling Balsa Dowel

balsa floats are usually one piece and tapered/shaped to the desired style, and the bottom of the float has some type of eye epoxied to it, when turning the balsa use a course paper 40/60 grit to get the shape then use finer grades to get it super smooth and ready for a coat of paint,

Table saw blades - best all-rounder

Freud all the way, but get a selection, 24t for ripping, 48t as general purpose, and 60t for cross cutting and sheet materials, if only able to get one for now get a 48t, as it will rip and cross cut but it will leave a little tear out on sheet materials, and don't go too big a section on the...

    Attaching fabrics/leather to wood

they will be plenty strong enough if you wrap around the frame, and reinforce the fabric with some webbing, as friction will be the main securing factor, it's either that or make the arms the fabric attaches to removable and loop the fabric to slide on/off and fix with bolts, link to a...

    Advice on brads req.

i would imagine refers to gauge size, but any fine panel pin should be adequate, i would also be inclined to angle them alternately eg / \ / \ , just helps keep the joint together, might also be easier to drill with a dremel or flexi shaft on a drill,

    Advice on brads req.

TBH, the term brads covers a variety of nails, https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=brad+ ... 80&bih=654, but for simplicity it looks as though it implies what we would refer to as panel pins, given the instructions say to drill pilot holes, which using a nailer would serve no purpose,

    Advice on brads req.

FWIW, i make the framework of my railway baseboards with 12mm ply, and they are glued and brad nailed with 50mm 18g brads from an air nailer, use on max setting to sink the heads, i just take my time to ensure good position of nailer before firing,

    table saw, serious this time

Hi sunnybob, don'y know if this is of any use, but Dewalt do a cordless site saw, it is pricey but it comes in under 20kg, and supplied with 2 batteries, brushless motor so should be reasonably quiet, not sure on customs though relating to batteries, so that could be an issue, link to screwfix...

    WHAT A FIND

based on the size of pen blanks, 1cuft works out to around £3000.00, if it is that rare, and as long as what you have is of age to be exempt, i would be tempted to slice and dice it to various sizes and sell half and keep half for personal use,
