Metabo KGS216M 216mm Laser Slide Compound Mitre Saw 240V

Hi, if it helps I purchased the Metabo KGS254 (2015 model) and find it is very good. Perfectly accurate out of the box with no adjustment needed. Very sturdy but let down with the odd plastic handle etc. I found even the laser was spot on. Only had it a week and used quite a lot so cannot...

Which sliding mitre saw for around £200-250

Well, eventually went for the Metabo. Excellent. Cut perfect/square straight from the box, needed no adjustment at all. Even the laser is spot on. Very, very happy, would definately recommend. Only criticism is that I ordered it from Toolstop on a Tuesday morning, and didn't receive it till...

Which sliding mitre saw for around £200-250

Hi all, my 12 year old sliding mitre saw has had it and am after a bit advice on something new around £200-250. Been looking at the Metabo KGS254 and the Hitachi C8FSE, anyone know if these are any good or could recommend something else? Thanks, Doug.

    Toy Box soft closing lid.

Thanks for replies, Mailee, would you say the stays you mentioned be strong enough for a lid 1000mm X 500mm made from 18mm mdf? Chrispy, good point you have made, I will cut a section out of the top of the front of box so as to leave a gap of say an inch when lid is closed. Thanks again.

    Toy Box soft closing lid.

Hi all, I have just finished making this toy box for a friend and is ready for spraying. Can anyone recommend suitable gas strut/stays that I can use to hopefully prevent the lid slamming shut on little fingers? The lid is 18mm mdf, 1000mm x 500mm, and quite heavy. Thanx, Doug.

UK stockists for decorative box hinges and latch/catches

Hi all, I'm busy starting to make baby keepsake boxes and am struggling to find a UK stockist of decorative hinges and latch/catches. The boxes are approx 36cm x 27cm x12cm, so would imagine I would need hinges about 60/70mm and a reasonable sized catch. Can anyone recommend a supplier in the...

    Sandpaper

Hi, I thought someone out there would know a good supplier of sandpaper. Anyway, I have scoured the internet and done a little research, but have a simple question I'm hoping someone can help me with. Would aluminium oxide D weight paper sheets, plain backing, be ok to cut to desired size and...

    First ever scroll saw work.

Got a load of solid oak flooring off a friend who was actually going to burn it, so made a thank you personalised coat rail which is the first thing I have ever made. Posted a photo on facebook to show friends and have been inundated with orders. Best get cracking.

    Sandpaper

Hi all, Just made myself a 9" bench disc sander. Where does everyone buy their sandpaper? Are discs better, or I dont mind buying sheets or rolls and cutting them to size, whether they are glued or velcro. Thanx.

    Clarke cdp 12eb pillar drill

Well, I viewed the drill, checked it over as best I could and bought it for the full £50. One problem I found it had was with the centre belt pulley. The hole the pulleys pin fitted into was quite worn which made the belt slip off at certain speeds because of the pulley not being horizontal...
