Tom Kerridge has a new series. As he's using James Martin's Saturday Kitchen' set, it's like the weekend every day! Okay the guy can cook, but what can he tell us that a dozen others can't? It becomes wearisome after a while, much as I like cooking and eating. What would he say if I said, 'Give us a bash at the bangers and mash, me muvver used ter make!'

So, I'll switch over to be entertained by more cooking shows, antiques shows, and quiz shows. (Another new one next week. Mark Williams gets on the band-wagon with a quiz called 'Link'! )
Oh wait. We actually had some Drama for the last three nights. Trouble was no one could understand the muttering of some of the actors, trying to sound Cornish!'

I think I'll join Steve Maskery and get shot of my TV. Just when I turned 75 too!

:? :? :?

I like those US shows on Quest. Diners Drive-In' s & Dives and Man Versus Food.
I also enjoyed American Hot-Rod when it was on, and even American Chopper. Myth-Busters, Mighty Ships, Deadliest Catch, Lobster Bashers, Ice-Road Truckers...
Love it all!

Oh I forgot 'Top Gear'...
Luvvitt!

Top Gear. I hate it. Presented by a big mouthed, big headed bigot.

You do realise that the "big mouthed, big headed bigot" you refer to is a damned good actor :?: He's got you convinced so he must be.

Trust me, I know JC personally (and RH for that matter) and he is just as normal as you and me away from the camera.

That's not the first time I heard that.

A recent slating he got for another slip-up, in the Burma programme is yet more evidence of over reaction to his presenting style. He clearly didn't know that a perfectly innocuous word that he used, has been used in the distant past to describe persons of a certain race.

Also, anyone who doubts his presenting ability should watch his programme on the St, Nazaire raid during WW ll

I think his biggest fault is that he tries to make 'jokey' comments, but somehow he hasn't the knack of making 'tongue-in-cheek' asides, without others misinterpreting them. When I saw him at Pebble Mill he made a 'derogatory' remark about Birmingham. I saw the programme later, and it became clear that he was trying to crack a joke; but one that didn't come across. Maybe he's completely given into the criticism, and decided to behave how his critics expect, in the hope they will grow tired of it. Anyhow, I don't see why anyone's opinion of him, right or wrong, should deter me from watching what I consider to be a decent programme. Whether he is there or not, I would still watch it. :)

I don't doubt it. It's just me. I don't like his on screeen persona. He annoys me.
