Wood sealer for jewelry??

Hey folks, I'm going to be making some necklaces for gifts and hope to sell a few. I'm looking for a non toxic wood sealer, I've only ever used varnish before but want something different, also so it's kid safe just incase things get into mouths. Can anyone help me out with a good brand/type etc.
