hello all
i wanted to seek some advice.
my next project is going to be a small box made with walnut for the sides and cherry for the lid and the bottom. the sides will be done with throught dovetai joints and i wanted to use a solid cherry panel for the lid with a matching panel for the bottom. i want to have the lid and the bottom of the box a bit larger than the dimensions of the sides so the the edges of the lid and the bottom are proud of the sides for a symetrical 'layered' look. i hope im making sense.
well here is my question: if i attached a carcass of dovetailed walnut to a cherry panel base using a dado or even some joint other than a floating panel (which won't work for my design) will i run into trouble with wood movement. especially since this will be a humidor for a friends cigars. i am going to line it with spanish cedar.
the dimensions are about 12"wide x 10" deep x 7" tall.
thank for any advise
