As per the title, I've seen several Willow 3-wheel bandsaws come up for sale, but I know nothing of the company.

Has anyone had use of one of these, and if so, how are they? I'm looking to upgrade my Chinese-built Jet. What I'd like is an old cast iron machine that's going to be worth keeping, and maintaining, and will last a lifetime. Oh, and cut accurately ;-).

Any idea if a Willow would fit those criteria? I'd prefer a 2-wheeler, but so does everyone else, hence Startrites fetching high prices.

If anyone on here does know anything about them, can you also tell me what make of motor they used?

Thanks muchly

p.s. I have searched the archives, and there are several threads mentioning these, but I can't see any feedback on how they've worked out

Hi Disco Monkey

I have one of these and use it daily! Its also probably one of the best looking bits of kit in the workshop so I'm lother to move to anything more modern. Did you ever manage to find any documents on this machine? I would love to get hold of any more information if it still exists.

Kind Regards

JP

Hiya,
No, I never did find any more info on them - one of the downsides of a pre-interweb age that makers came and went, and the paperwork went with them
Glad to hear yours is going great - I managed to find a startrite for a reasonable price (albeit rather battered) , so ended up going that route

They were a British company but thats all i know, also made other woodworking machines, I got an 18" Willow linisher out of a skip years ago & still use it, good little machine.

I came into possession of a 4-tyre bandsaw earlier this year that apparently came as a kit! If anyone is interested in buying it very cheaply I can post pictures. Comes in a very fetching green gloss. Needs minor tlc to make it run sweetly.
