Hi all , im about to build some speaker boxes in Baltic birch, just wondering what would be the best wood for bracing in the corners 25mm x 25mm type size.

cheers all phil.

How big are they going to be? If they are small you won't need them.
I had to rebuild my garage speakers after a leak I used 18mm MDF with mitered corners an the back set into a rebate they are very strong and sound much better than the thin chipboard ones.
And don't forget they will reduce the internal volume.

As Pete said, corner braces aren't needed but if these are larger floorstanders, how about a braces instead - this is quite common as it will greatly reduce panel flex which happens even with 18mm or 25mm mdf

Its also important to avoid any voids (see what I did there ?) where the panels join

Again, any internal bracing will reduce volume so needs to be factored in if quality is oober important

What drivers are you using ?

You could even consider separating the enclosures - ie sealed bottom cabinet for low/mid range and separate again for the tweeter

And don't forget to make them biwire boxes

Blimey Pete, the reissers will bounce off that if you turn up the volume :) Or is it just a shelf really with no innards

Just a plank of OSB with a lot of planes and screws on.

The amp keeps the screws warm!

Yes and no, the speakers where in the kitchen fed with a NAIM Nait1 which the TV and main system is connected to they where replaced by a pair of MS10s
The main system is a Roksan Xerxes, Artemis, Dynavector 10x5, Densen 410 Cd player, Quad FM3 tuner, Samsung TV into a Starfish preamp a pair of Hackernaps (both home made from projects on Pink Fish Media web site) feeding a pair of Shahinian Arc speakers.

The rest of the garage system was picked up from car boots or cheap from Ebay etc (collection only seems the have a big difference on the final price) things have been swapped out and another system set up for a mates garage.

Sounds like a nice setup there Pete - I haven't seen a deck for a long, long time

Mine's a bit more modest, I have a Roksan Kandy, Arcam CD72, Sony DAB into a pair of Yamaha (yup) floorstanders via QED silver biwire, cannae remember what interconnects I got though - hardly listen to it now :-(

My speaker cable came out of a skip, its 16mm CSA wire took a blow-lamp to solder it, its rated at 90 Amps continuous!

I guess you'll certainly be able to turn it right up - I SAID, TURN IT RIGHT UP (sorry  )

and must have taken some hiding, 'specially if bi-wiring as well

Single wire on the arcs so it's just 4 10mm wires on show!
