Wenge was my first thought also, but the grain pattern is a little more padauk-y. It's also not far away from purplehearrt that has been in the sun for a while.
Have to agree with Phil.p on Iroko, A typical grain thats darkened for some reason,
Here's a link to wenge and it's many grain variations, and I cant find one similar.

Could be leadwood/mgurure if you're lucky otherwise my vote's for very old purpleheart.
The density would be the key - leadwood's harder and heavy ~1200 kg/m^3.
