The project I am doing at the moment requires a lot of internal cutting.I used to use white masking tape on the wood first then double sided tape and then the pattern.I mostly use Birch Ply and I was having difficulty seeing some of the tiny bits left on the wood.I went to B&Q last Wednesday ( discount for the Elderly )and bought some blue masking tape, what a difference,it comes off better and I can see the tiny bits.

probably even cheaper at tool station. I have to admit, I find it to be better stuff than the white for most masking jobs.

Hi Bryan. I to use the blue painters tape as it is called across the pond. In the main I use 2 inch masking tape for mosy things but now and again on thin stuff the bluw tape has the edge as you have found out. The only problem with the blue tape is that it is very expensive compared to ordinary masking tape, especially when you buy it from B and Q which can be double the price than Wilkinson's. I looked at some decorative shelf brackets in B and Q and they were twice the price than Wilkinson's for exactly the same thing.

Just taking a break from packing, taking down shelving and moving everything into one room as much as possible prior to my move tomorrow. Moving is a nightmare. Looking forward to working in a much more spacious workshop so some compensation at the end of it all.

Geoff I know that you pay over the odds at B&Q it was just the nearest will buy from a different source if I run out.I will be selective to which I use.I hope that the move is progressing well, and that you will soon be sorted.

Bryan, where do you get your double sided tape? The only double sided tape I could find when I looked a few months ago (in a sell everything store) was, in my opinion, far too expensive to be cutting up and then throwing away. I can't remember the price but I remember being shocked at the price per metre.

I have found double sided tape in the pound shop before :) stopped using it for a while cos it was really tacky, but then learnt to put masking tape onto both sides when stacking - much better #-o

Martin I buy the double sided tape at Wilkinson's.I tried spray glue at one time, but now I use the double sided tape all the time.I will go into Wilkinson's tomorrow and make a note of the price and will put a post on here.

Martin the price of the double sided tape is £2 45 for 50 mm x 10 m at Wilkinson's.It may be expensive but I still will be using it,clean and effective.

Bryan, is the double sided tape from Wilko's called STUK? Reason I ask is I found two rolls of double sided tape that I didn't know I had, and it says they are 10 metre rolls. When you peel the backing off, it's just like a film of glue, rather than being a piece of paper with glue each side. I can't remember where I got it from but I was in Wilko's a few weeks back, so it's possible I got it there. I used it this morning and it beats messing around with spray, but what I don't like is that sawdust sticks to it and it can obscure the line on small cuts.

Martin.

Martin the tape is yellow in colour,I can't understand you saying that the sawdust sticks to it.I put the tape on then the pattern and then cover with clear tape. The sawdust comes up and then is sucked up with the Henry fromoff the top of the clear tape.I hope I am explaining it so you can understand what I am trying to get across.
