Help Needed!!

Because of a non perfect seal, some water has seeped into the corner joint of a kitchen worktop.

It has caused the chipboard to swell about 2mm at the mid point of the edge for appx 30mm long x 8 mm width and caused the laminate to bulge.

Is there anyway to dry out the chipboard and re-compress it down flat. I was thinking of a hot iron and then to weight it down but don't want to make it worse.

Any suggestions very gratefully received.

John

sorry Jon, I must admit that despire trying various things over the years, I have never managed to get the swelling back out, nor unfortunetly have I heard of anyone who has :-(
The problem is as soon as that water gets in the integrity of that area is lost.

Agreed! Make sure that when you replace the top that use seal using something like Kolorbond

Thanks for the info, not the answers I was hoping for :( :(
I will be super careful next time in sealing the edges and not just rely on the bonding sealant when joining with a mason joint.

Thanks again,
John
