Came across a thread elsewhere about handling Fully Waxed Exotic Woods in relation to them possibly still being very wet.

Comments from one Exporter HERE. with a link to his companies article on the subject.

I know 'Trev the Turner' has tackled some waxed Olive, was wondering if anyone else uses these woods and how you go about preparing them or ensuring they are dry enough.
I currently can't justify a moisture meter cost but would assume most of what I see on the shelves has the potential to be quite wet.
 
Chas, I had some olivewood that had been in the workshop for well over a year... :idea:
cut it up for bobbin blanks...

shame it was the wrong colour 'cos they would have made great bananas :roll:

Without a meter perhaps weighing after purchase and check weighing over a period would give you a clue :?:
