Hi all,
If there are any graduate owners who are looking for a tap to cut inboard threads, take a look on the RDG tools website. They have them for £22.20 inc VAT.
Could be useful for modifying the thread on a faceplate that doesn't fit, or for cutting a thread in an aluminium blank to fabricate your own from scratch.
I cut a thread in some maple, glued it to a ply disc, and trued it up on my Viceroy, to make an outboard sanding disc. The set of 3 taps did cost me £50 though. I plan to make some more so I can glue different grades of abrasive to them, and make it easy to swap discs. Well, I want to make the most of those taps. Might make an aluminium faceplate next too.
