Hi chaps,

I have a Lidl Parkside track saw fitted with a diamond blade from ATS, which I use for nice, straight, dust-free cuts in stone slabs and limestone tiles. I'm currently using it to cut ceramic tiles, but to speed up the job I'm wondering if there's a way to convert it to an overhead bridge saw - that way I can slide the tiles under without repositioning the tracks every time, as well as dealing with the issue of them slipping on the slick surface.

What I need is a means of stiffening the joined tracks sufficiently to support the weight of the saw in the centre without sagging. I'm not concerned about ruining the tracks in the process as a member here mentioned they can be bought direct from Grizzly for only about £14/pair. Any suggestions?

Cheers,
Mark

To stiffen them you'd need to put a straight edge perpendicular to the track, and attach the track to its edge. The issue is that you'd want to attach the straight edge to the top (so it didn't get in the way of the tile underneath), but the saw fills the full width of the track so there's no room.

Perhaps you're better off hinging the track at the top end to a Jig, festool style, allowing you to easily position the tile and flip the track down in the same place each time?
