Tool Advice please

Looking to replace my Dremel type tool
Would like some advice on a tool that would not only do all the dremel type jobs but also capable of piercing etc
How good are proxxon,Foredom ?
Flexi drive shaft might be convenient but does this perish quickly or does it affect torque etc?

I bought a Skil on a special offer, it came with loads of bits, a pendant stand and a flexible drive. It's slightly longer and larger than my dremel but it does exactly the same job. Ay £17.50 it makes dremel seem more than a little over priced.
