Long time lurker first time poster here ;)

I'm trying to figure out the best way to put together a stool similar to these:

edit - meh caught by filter.. address is: imgur dot com / DUwW1 dot jpg

and also what materials to use.

I'd like to keep material costs as low as possible i.e. use thinner ply/mdf but obviously want it to be very stable.

I'm also confused as to what joints would be best to use - partly because this will most likely depend on the thickness of the sheet material I use.

So:

Ply or MDF (considering weight needs to be kept low enough for it to be moved easily)?

If I use, say, 12mm ply is that enough thickness to screw directly into the edge of the panels at the corners?

Would it be best to have a panel for all 6 sides or use a couple of braces on the bottom for the feet to screw into?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks :)

I guess anything paintable would do matey. Ply might give more strength but cost more.

What are you considering for the covers? leather or PVC for example?

Hi,

I would think the feet extend all the way up to the top, and the sides and top are fixed to them, that would make a strong cube.
