When I am making something out of wood, that will be used outside or in the garage, I always put a cut down piece of chopping board on the bottom of the feet.
It means that a) the wood is not constantly in the damp/wet. b) it also means you are not wearing the "end" of the wood as you move it around.

I cut a piece of chopping board to the correct size of the foot etc., drill a countersunk hole in the middle of the chopping board.Before securing it to the wood make sure the wood is fully treated then but some silicone on the wood and screw the bit of chopping board to the leg. with the longest screw that will work

IKEA chopping boards are thick and cheap

Interesting Mumble;
Could you give us an example please ?

Good tip. I do the same.
Plastic/nylon chopping boards seem to be getting thinner by the year.
