Timber merchant - suffolk

I'm looking for somewhere that will deliver small quantities without paying through the roof for delivery. Has anyone used a local timber merchant around this area (in my case Hockwold Cum Wilton) who could give me a rough idea of delivery charge?

My orders will always be quite small, probably around £50 -70 worth.

Just trying to weigh things out as opposed to bothering a member of the family to help me out

I've tried phoning a few merchants, but they all seem to be off until new year

... so just looking for a rough idea

What timber are you looking for??

Gorrod Timber on the Heywood near Diss or Adridges at Snetterton??

If you are only after a small amount I might be able to help if you PM me - I do hold a bit of timber :lol:

Ha! Letchworth is where I live. Hockwold Cum Wilton is where my "workshop" is

(Mum's garage). I'll give them a call after new year

That seems a bit far out. Thanks for the offer of your wood, but I'd like to source a supplier that I can use long term. I've since discovered Woollards in Mildenhall. Only found them by driving past (no website or anything like that)

I remember living out in the wilds of fenland (as opposed to Finland) many years ago.
I went to a timber supplier near Snetterton a few times. It was like travelling back in time.
It was basically a forest with piles of timber laying about, You told the old boy what you wanted, he grunted and off you went in the back off his tractor to get what you want.
Would that be Adridges at Snetterton I wonder?
And have health and safety ever paid a visit ?
Not many places like that left I am sure.
